Yesterday we reported the changes in Google Wallet in the Quick shortcut tile in Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. The update changed the shortcuts on the lock screen and Quick Shortcuts to open the app instead of popping up a carousel of cards. It also changed the shortcut to display the full card name followed by the last four digits. The brand has reversed its decision to display the full card name.

It will display every time one pulls up the Quick Shortcuts panel. The feature was annoying for many users as it would scroll the full card name once before displaying the last digits. Some even had a blank space scrolling before displaying the last four digits. Google was quick to respond and disabled the full card name displaying feature.

The Play Service update rolled out on Tuesday and made changes only on Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. Most of the smartphones that received this feature has been now reverted to the old one. It is still unclear if it is an issue from Google’s side or if they tested out a new feature. If the change hasn’t been reflected on your Pixel 7 series smartphone, try rebooting and clearing the cache of the Google Wallet app.
